Member Nominated Representative, appointed April 2008. Until retirement, an "in-house" solicitor with a multi-national company in the oil and gas sector; and a continuing trustee director, nominated by its pensioner community, of the company's large defined benefits pension scheme - one of the decreasingly few such schemes still open both to new members and to continuing service accrual. Motivated to join Cheviot by the challenge of its labyrinthine complexities and a perceived opportunity to contribute to effective delivery on the central requirement of working to safeguard members' interests by tackling and resolving the wide spectrum of issues that confront it in a climate of increasing regulation and shifting economic and demographic scenarios: but also having a vested interest as the recipient of a very modest annuity deriving from service in far-distant days as a solicitors' clerk.
