INFORMATION FOR THE EMPLOYER

Workplace Pension Schemes: Employers Guide – October 2011

Auto-Enrolment Staging Dates For Small Firms Announced – 25 January 2012

The government has announced a revised timetable for the starting dates of auto-enrolment for employers of all sizes. The staging date for businesses with less than 30 members is from 1 January 2016 to 1 April 2017, while employers with 30 to 49 employees will have to start auto-enrolling their staff from 1 August 2015 to 1 October 2015.

Staging Date Changes Announced – 28 November 2011

The Government has announced changes to the way that the employer duties are being introduced. Employers with fewer than 50 persons in their largest PAYE scheme will not be staged into the employer duties until after the end of this Parliament.

Employers with 3000 or more persons in their PAYE scheme, ie those with likely staging dates between 1 October 2012 and 1 July 2013, will be unaffected and their staging date will be unchanged.

As a result of the announcement we will update our website as soon as the Government publishes the revised staging schedule.

Find Your Staging Date – October 2011

The Department for Work and Pensions has opted for a staggered introduction of membership and contributions. If you have less than five hundred employees, this will not be before 2014.

Employers will be required to register with the Regulator to inform them what they have done to comply with their new employer duties. Registration will be via an online process available through the Regulator’s website. It is the employer’s duty to complete this registration when it becomes available. We will write to you further when it is available. More information is available at www.thepensionsregulator.gov.uk/employers/tools/staging-date.aspx
